Directors
The World Conference on Breast Cancer Foundation is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors. The Board is comprised of breast cancer survivors, health researchers, breast care advocates, and community representatives from Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta and Nova Scotia who are knowledgeable in breast cancer issues. The Foundation Board directs conference planning activities through international networking, sponsor relationships, and event planning contractors.
Melissa McDermott
Melissa McDermott graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto before completing a post-graduate certificate in Public Relations at Humber College. Melissa started her career at the public relations agency Cohn & Wolfe in consumer technology.
In 2007, she joined the Public Affairs team at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. She is currently the Media and Communications Specialist at the Hospital; and is primarily responsible for proactive and reactive media relations, and plays an integral part in government relations, and issues management for the Hospital and its Foundation. She began her term as a World Conference on Breast Cancer Foundation board member in June 2009.
